Defensive Pistol -- Level 2 is a natural follow-up to the Level 1 class.  This is not a course for basic Pistol skill development.  This course is designed to push the intermediate shooter to develop more advanced skills.  It requires a reflexive understanding of firearms safety and combat pistol fundamentals.

After a review of firearms safety and Level 1 fundamentals, the focus is shifted to more advanced techniques and faster times on-target.  Practice drills will introduce you to multiple variables including communication, ammo management, malfunction clearance and problem resolution during live fire exercises.  In Level 2 you will also be introduced to “Force on Force” training using Airsoft pistols.  This will allow you to train against a “live” adversary as opposed to stationary cardboard targets.  More in-depth instruction in low light/no light techniques will be included as time permits.

The course is 10 hours in length, delivered over one day of instruction, generally either Saturday or Sunday.  Participants must be at least 21 years of age and must possess a valid Arizona Concealed Weapons Permit.  Course prerequisite includes completion of an Defensive Pistol – Level 1 course from APDI or completion of a intermediate course of Pistol instruction from a recognized firearms training organization or permission of the instructor.

Required equipment includes eye and ear protection, an appropriate firearm, a quality, strong-side holster (no fanny packs, belly bands, shoulder or small-of-back holsters), a minimum of four spare magazines or speed-loaders, an appropriate magazine carrier, a high quality flashlight (Surefire, Streamlight, Pelican, Mag-lite or similar) and at least 500 rounds of ammunition.  It is strongly recommended that you also wear a billed hat, long pants, comfortable shoes or boots and a sturdy belt that will support the weight of your handgun and other gear.  Knee pads are also highly recommended.
